Ahoy!
Get ready to set sail as we embark on an ocean adventure this summer. That’s right, our Summer Reading Challenge is right around the corner, and our theme this year is “Oceans of Possibilities.”
It’s free, and we have versions to fit each age group. We invite you to complete reading goals and activities to earn tickets for our grand prize drawings.
REGISTRATION
Registration begins on Monday, May 23, 2022; however, logging your reading won’t start until Monday, May 31, 2022.
- Each person registering for the Summer Reading Challenge will receive five (5) tickets for our grand prize drawing.
- Kids, birth to 11, will receive a free bag, their choice of a free book, and their Summer Reading Passport Activity Book at registration.
- Teens (12-18) and Adults (19+) will receive their first reading log at registration.
For Kids (Ages Birth – 11)
Your child will use their “passport” to keep track of their reading and activities in each section. There are suggestions for activities in each of the four sections, suggestions for book titles, songs, or fingerplays. As your child completes each section, we encourage you to bring them back to the library to pick up their section coupon and three (3) tickets for the grand prize drawing.
- Babies to age 5, we challenge you to read at least 40 books this summer.
- We challenge kids 6-11 years old to read at least 200 pages this summer.
Children have the chance to earn more tickets by attending our summer reading challenge performances. They will receive four (4) tickets to enter our grand prize drawing for every performance they attend.
For Teens (Ages 12-18)
We challenge you to read at least 400 pages this summer. You will receive a coupon from a local business for every 100 pages (up to the first 400 pages recorded). Then for every 100 pages read, you will receive three (3) tickets to our grand prize drawing.
For any of our summer reading challenge performances that you attend, you can earn four (4) tickets to enter.
For Adults (19+)
For every 1,000 pages you read, you will receive three (3) tickets for our grand prize drawing.
Want more chances to earn tickets?
Watch for our question of the week. Answer the question correctly, and you will earn two (2) tickets. The questions of the week will be posted on our Facebook page, Twitter feed, our website, the LED sign in front of the Camdenton Library, and at each of our branches.
